Lead Platform / Infrastructure Engineer

Stafffull-timeRemote (Global)$210k–$300k + equity
As the Lead Platform / Infrastructure Engineer at Overnox, you set the standard for the cloud and platform foundations we build for clients — from GPU-backed Kubernetes clusters running inference workloads to multi-account AWS/GCP/Azure landing zones with security and cost controls baked in. You are the most senior infrastructure IC in the practice: the architect clients rely on to design platforms that are secure by default, cost-efficient, and operable long after we hand them the keys. You'll own our Infrastructure-as-Code standards (Terraform/OpenTofu modules, GitOps with ArgoCD/Flux), our golden-path platform patterns, and the decisions that determine whether a client's platform scales gracefully or collapses under its own complexity. You'll work hands-on across the stack — networking, IAM, container orchestration, CI/CD, observability, and FinOps — while establishing the reusable modules and reference architectures that let the whole Overnox team deliver enterprise-grade platforms faster. This role matters because AI ambitions die on weak infrastructure. Overnox differentiates by building platforms that are production-ready, secure, and cost-controlled from day one, and you are the engineer most responsible for encoding that promise into reusable, battle-tested foundations.

What you'll do

  • Architect secure, scalable, multi-cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) — landing zones, networking, IAM, and account/project structure — as reusable reference designs for client engagements
  • Own Overnox's Infrastructure-as-Code standards: production-grade Terraform/OpenTofu module libraries, state management, and policy-as-code (OPA/Sentinel)
  • Design and operate Kubernetes platforms, including GPU node pools for AI/ML inference, autoscaling, service mesh, and multi-tenancy, with GitOps delivery via ArgoCD or Flux
  • Build golden-path developer platforms and internal tooling that make secure defaults the easy path for client engineering teams
  • Establish observability and reliability foundations — metrics, logs, traces, SLOs — and embed cost governance (FinOps) with tagging, budgets, and rightsizing from the start
  • Lead cloud migrations, high-availability and disaster-recovery design, and platform upgrades across Kubernetes, provider versions, and IaC
  • Serve as the senior technical voice with client platform and engineering leaders; run architecture reviews and produce clear handoff documentation and runbooks
  • Mentor SREs and platform engineers and codify hard-won patterns into the frameworks our practice reuses across clients

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles, with a track record of owning production platforms at scale
  • Expert with Kubernetes in production (upgrades, networking, autoscaling, multi-tenancy) and with at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to an architect level
  • Deep Infrastructure-as-Code expertise: authoring reusable Terraform/OpenTofu modules, managing state safely, and enforcing policy-as-code
  • Strong GitOps and CI/CD experience (ArgoCD/Flux, GitHub Actions or equivalent) and container fundamentals (Docker, image supply chain)
  • Solid grasp of cloud networking, IAM, secrets management, and security best practices as they apply to platform design
  • Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Go, Python, or similar) for tooling and automation
  • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog) and defining SLOs/error budgets
  • Proven technical leadership: setting standards, reviewing designs, and mentoring engineers

Nice to have

  • Hands-on GPU infrastructure and MLOps/LLMOps experience (GPU scheduling, inference serving, model deployment platforms)
  • FinOps experience driving material cloud cost reductions
  • Relevant certifications (CKA/CKAD, cloud architect, Terraform Associate) as supporting signal
  • Consulting or multi-client delivery experience and comfort producing high-quality handoff artifacts
  • Experience with service mesh (Istio/Linkerd), Cilium, or advanced multi-cluster topologies
