Senior Security Engineer

Seniorfull-timeRemote (Global)$160k–$220k + equity
As a Senior Security Engineer at Overnox, you do the hands-on work that keeps client systems secure: hardening cloud and Kubernetes environments, building secure CI/CD pipelines, driving vulnerability remediation, and engineering detections that catch real threats. You'll partner with our Lead Security Engineer and with client teams to turn security requirements into implemented, tested controls — and increasingly, to help clients secure their AI and LLM systems against a fast-evolving threat landscape. This is a builder's role. You'll write automation, integrate scanning into pipelines, tune detections, respond to incidents, and translate findings into clear, prioritized engineering work. Across Overnox's client portfolio — startups to regulated enterprises — you'll get broad exposure to modern cloud attack surfaces and the practical craft of shipping security that developers can actually live with. This role matters because Overnox's reputation is built on infrastructure that withstands scrutiny. You are the engineer implementing the controls, closing the vulnerabilities, and building the detections that make that reputation deserved.

What you'll do

  • Implement and harden secure baselines for cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and Kubernetes workloads across client environments
  • Integrate and operate security scanning in CI/CD — SAST, DAST, SCA, IaC and container scanning — and help teams remediate findings
  • Drive vulnerability management: triage, prioritize by real risk, track, and verify remediation
  • Build and tune detections and alerting in SIEM/cloud-native tooling, and participate in incident response and investigations
  • Automate security controls and tooling with code (Python, Go, Bash, Rego) to scale guardrails without blocking delivery
  • Implement IAM least-privilege, secrets management, and network segmentation in line with Zero Trust principles
  • Support AI/LLM security work — guardrail implementation, prompt-injection testing, and security reviews — under senior guidance
  • Document controls, write runbooks, and communicate risk clearly to client and internal teams

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years in security engineering, cloud security, or security operations
  • Hands-on cloud security experience with at least one major provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes security and container fundamentals
  • Experience integrating security tooling into CI/CD and driving vulnerability remediation
  • Detection engineering and/or incident response experience with SIEM or cloud-native security tools
  • Coding/scripting ability in Python, Go, or similar for automation
  • Solid understanding of IAM, secrets management, and network security
  • Clear communicator able to turn security findings into actionable engineering tasks

Nice to have

  • Exposure to AI/LLM security concepts (prompt injection, guardrails, red-teaming)
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS)
  • Policy-as-code experience (OPA/Rego) or IaC security (Checkov, tfsec)
  • Security certifications (Security+, CKS, GIAC) or a home lab / CTF background
