Senior Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps

Seniorfull-timeRemote (Global)$165k–$225k + equity
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer / DevOps at Overnox, you make client systems reliable, observable, and operable — the engineer who ensures the platforms we build stay up, scale smoothly, and page people only when it truly matters. You'll define and instrument SLOs and error budgets, automate away toil, build CI/CD and GitOps pipelines, and lead incident response and blameless postmortems across a portfolio of client environments, including AI/ML workloads with their own distinctive reliability and cost profiles. You'll work hands-on with Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu, and modern observability tooling, partnering with our platform architects and client teams to turn shaky, manually-operated systems into calm, automated ones. Because Overnox often steps into environments mid-flight, you'll bring order to complexity: mapping failure modes, hardening deploys, and building the dashboards and runbooks that let teams sleep at night. This role matters because reliability is where trust is won or lost. Overnox's managed-services and platform reputation rests on systems that just work, and you are the engineer who makes that real, day after day.

What you'll do

  • Define, instrument, and report on SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets for critical client services, driving reliability decisions with data
  • Build and operate observability: dashboards, alerting, distributed tracing, and log pipelines (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry) tuned to minimize alert fatigue
  • Automate infrastructure and operations with Terraform/OpenTofu and code (Python/Go/Bash), eliminating toil and manual runbooks
  • Design and maintain CI/CD and GitOps pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD/Flux) for safe, frequent, low-risk deployments
  • Operate and harden Kubernetes workloads — autoscaling, resource tuning, rollout strategies — including AI/ML and GPU-backed services
  • Lead incident response and on-call, run blameless postmortems, and drive the follow-up work that prevents recurrence
  • Implement backup, disaster-recovery, and capacity-planning practices, and partner with FinOps efforts to keep cloud spend efficient
  • Produce clear runbooks and documentation and coach client teams on operational best practices

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or production operations roles for large-scale systems
  • Strong hands-on Kubernetes experience and production expertise with at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Solid coding/scripting ability in Python, Go, or similar for automation and tooling
  • Deep experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and defining SLOs/error budgets
  • Proven incident-response leadership, including on-call ownership and postmortem facilitation
  • Comfort working directly with client teams and communicating operational risk clearly

Nice to have

  • Experience operating AI/ML or GPU workloads in production
  • GitOps depth (ArgoCD/Flux) and progressive delivery (canary, blue/green)
  • FinOps or cloud cost-optimization experience
  • Certifications such as CKA or a cloud associate/professional credential
  • Chaos engineering or reliability-testing experience
